An analytical model for particle-geogrid aperture interaction

چکیده

The shear strength of geogrid-reinforced ballast is often dependent on the aperture size geogrids and nominal ballast. This paper presents a theoretical analysis based probabilistic mechanics how affects interaction between particles geogrid. Unlike past literature, in this study, properties particle distribution analysed using Weibull distribution. probability grain interlock proposed to describe interactive mechanisms relative size, which defined as ratio size. mathematical model calibrated by set large-scale direct tests with almost single-size (highly uniform) aggregates, then validated independent data taken from both literature current study. study concludes that more uniform increases at optimum but decreases it non-optimum sizes.
